TILEFISH, SAND Malacanthus plumieri A long, silvery blue fish we nicknamed the 'sinuous' fish, as it hovers above the sand undulating slowly. The Tilefish builds its own burrows, which it enters, usually backing out; others turn round and come out headfirst. It works diligently to keep the burrow pristine moving stones with its mouth.
